Daemons

stand alone processes running continuously

• performing acquistion of data from front-end (possibly triggered by event)
• data processing/analysis of raw data
• re-publishing of processed and derived data to logging and fixed display systems (either over CMW or JMS in LHC framework)
• also grab device settings and republish key sub-set
• publish any calibration factors used
• machine mode dependent - only active when beam in the machine
• need process monitoring facilites, start/stop functionality
• interface to Alarm system
• The daemon shall use standard analysis alogrithms
• The daemon shall be implemented in such a way that alternative analysis algorithms can easily be added

Change of parameters through a dedicated GUI - not via daemon
