Distribution of data

DIP

• The timing system shall distribute data: e.g. machine mode, beam current, energy, etc...
• What will the experiments will need in the way of FAST info? Most of the data will go via DIP... but will they need the receipt of timing events to be informed of ramp start, scan start, etc..
• Similar but slower requirements from cryogenics system

• Distribution of real-time data - possible use of the LHC real time data by multiple users. At the last meeting on signal exchange between the experiments and the machine it became clear that some exchange of RT data would be necessary. They were particularly interested in:
  - position measured at Q1
  - bunch by bunch intensity
  - longitudinal profile

  In turn, they propose the following signals for the machine:
  - luminosity
  - longitudinal collision distribution
  - x,y,z position at the vertex
  - background

  These updated with times ranging from 100us to every minute.

The smallest beam emittance possible will possible will allow to reach smaller t values in the special TOTEM run
 

• We need to know the beam position at the IP with 10 micron precision  to check the consistency of our alignment procedures.
• We are interested in having the Machine monitors story recorded regularly and made monitors story recorded regularly and made available for the  off--line analysis during the line analysis during the TOTEM runs.
