Daemons
stand alone processes running continuously
- performing acquistion of data from front-end (possibly triggered by event)
- data processing/analysis of raw data
- re-publishing of processed and derived data to logging and fixed display systems (either over CMW or JMS in LHC framework)
- also grab device settings and republish key sub-set
- publish any calibration factors used
- machine mode dependent - only active when beam in the machine
- need process monitoring facilites, start/stop functionality
- interface to Alarm system
- The daemon shall use standard analysis alogrithms
- The daemon shall be implemented in such a way that alternative analysis algorithms can easily be added
Change of parameters through a dedicated GUI - not via daemon
Implemention
- standard LHC/LSA facilites
- run on a number of machines - load spreading
