Given parameters:
· The foreseen MKQ pulse length is about 5 micros, so about 200 bunches will be excited by a single kick.
· The charging time of the system is about 300 ms.
Required operation:
· Kick about 200 bunches once, starting at a given bunch, then displace kick, normally by about 5 ìs, and kick again. Repeat this process at a given repetition rate, which might be every couple of seconds during injection or up to 3 Hz during the snap-back part of the ramp.
· Resolution for setting the ‘micro-timing’ for selecting the bunches should be better than 10 ns.
· It should be possible to use timing events, like start of ramp, start of squeeze or injection events to synchronise the excitation with state changes of the machine.
· It should also be possible to start / stop the excitation by a knob in the application program.
· The two systems in the two planes, MKQH and MKQV, are independent.
